Does the membership actually pay for itself?
For most patients on a normal schedule, yes, and the arithmetic is on this page rather than hidden. At West Orange Dental Studio's regular fees, the exams, cleanings, fluoride, and x-rays included in the first year come to more than $800, against a membership of $549. That leaves you more than $200 ahead before using the 10% treatment discount at all, and the sum leaves out the oral cancer screenings and panoramic x-ray that are also included.
Is this dental insurance?
No. This is a discount plan offered directly by our studio. There is no third party between you and your dentist, which is exactly why there are no claim forms, no deductibles, and no annual maximum. You pay us, and we take care of you.
Who is this plan for?
Anyone without dental insurance, and anyone whose insurance does not include us in its network. That covers self-employed and small business owners, retirees who lost coverage when they left work, families whose employer plan does not include dental, anyone who has priced an individual dental policy and decided the math did not work, and patients who have benefits but would rather not let a network decide where they go.
Is there more than one plan?
No, there is one membership at one price for everyone. What we find in your mouth does not move you onto a different tier. If your gums need more work, that care is discounted rather than billed to a separate plan.
What if I have gum disease?
You stay on the same membership. Gingivitis and periodontitis therapy is 20% off, which covers scaling in the presence of inflammation, full mouth debridement, and scaling and root planing (deep cleaning). Arestin placement is half off. Periodontitis needs four maintenance cleanings a year rather than two, and the two beyond what the membership covers are 20% off as well.
Is there a monthly payment option?
Yes. The monthly price is the yearly price divided by twelve, with nothing added for paying that way, so membership is $45.75 a month.
Can I use this if I already have dental insurance?
Yes, if your plan is one we are out of network with. Having out-of-network benefits does not shut you out of membership, and plenty of patients use both. Bring your insurance information to your visit and we will show you how the two work together for your situation, so you can see the real number rather than guess at it.
What if I need treatment beyond what is included?
Members receive 10% off all treatment the membership does not already cover, from a filling to a crown to a full implant case, with the deeper discounts above on gum disease therapy and Arestin. We show you the member price before anything is scheduled, so there is never a surprise on the way out.
Are CBCT 3D scans included?
No. Your bitewings, your panoramic x-ray, and any individual x-rays we need are covered by the membership. A CBCT is the 3D scan we use to plan implants and surgery, and it sits outside that. Members receive 10% off it, the same as any other treatment.
Can I put my whole family on it?
Yes, and most families do. Everyone enrolls on the same membership at the same price, and we schedule the household's visits together whenever you like, so one trip covers the family.
How long does the membership last?
Twelve months from the day you enroll, and your benefits run on that same twelve months rather than the calendar year. We will remind you before it renews.
What happens if I do not use all my visits?
Included visits do not roll over into the next year, the same way insurance benefits do not. The plan is built around coming in on schedule, which is also what keeps small problems from turning into expensive ones.
